BLACK ice has led to police being called to numerous road traffic collisions today.
The Highways Agency said the M1 southbound is closed between junctions J48 (with the A1M) and J45 near Garforth, Leeds due to a collision.
Traffic is encouraged to divert from the M1 at J48 using the A1M south to the M62.
West Yorkshire Police say major roads affected include the M62 east and westbound at various locations and the M1 and A1 in both directions.
Motorists are advised to drive with extreme care.
