LEISURE chiefs have been forced to shut a swimming pool after a flood in the pump room.
Two pumps were damaged when a pipe burst at Colne Valley Leisure Centre in Slaithwaite.
The pool might have to stay closed until next Tuesday.
Bosses at Kirklees Active Leisure, which manages the centre for the local council, said the pumps were vital to the running of the pool.
The rest of the leisure centre is open as normal.
Engineers were working at the site all day yesterday but the pumps need to be dried out and repaired.
Operations manager Stephen Knight said: "Unfortunately we have had no alternative but to close the pool, but we are hoping to reopen by Tuesday morning.
"In the meantime, can we stress that the rest of the centre is open as usual for badminton and other sports hall bookings."
The Owls club on Monday will run as usual but without the swimming option.
Mr Knight said: "We hope to reopen on Tuesday morning.
"We would ask our customers to ring the centre or check the website www.kirkleesactive.co.uk before turning up for a swim."
