A POP-UP art studio brought the pyramids and the Great Barrier Reef together at Huddersfield University.

It also allowed visitors to take a trip down memory lane. As part of the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, the Pop-Up Art School popped-up for the day yesterday at the university’s Creative Arts Building in Queensgate.

The theme was Claudia Molitor’s Remember Me, a miniature multi-media opera, which was performed as part of the festival.

The pyramids and Great Barrier Reef featured among pop-up worlds in matchboxes created by Freya Kruczenyk, one of the artists exhibiting work.

The art event was organised by postgraduate certificate of education art, design and music students from the School of Education and Professional Development.

Teacher Sarah Williamson described it as a “temporary and exciting event” adding: “Pop-Ups are still all the fashion – the current December issue of Vogue is called ‘Vogue goes Pop’, and includes a feature on ‘Pop-Up’ events.”
