ONE of Kirklees’ longest running art shows is on target to set a new record for the number of exhibits.

Mirfield’s annual art exhibition and sale returns next month for the 38th year.

The show at Mirfield Parish Centre on Church Lane raises funds for the Mirfield Team Parish.

The event attracts artists and visitors from throughout Yorkshire and further afield and 2011 is on course to set new records with many new artists registering their intention to exhibit.

Local artists Richard Gawthorpe and Alan Goodall will be demonstrating their artistic skills and sharing help and advice with visitors.

The three-day event opens at 7pm on Friday, June 10 with a cheese and wine evening and continues on Saturday, June 11 from 10am to 7pm and on Sunday, June 12 from 2pm to 7pm. Admission is £1 for adults, with accompanied children admitted free of charge.
