NURSES at a Huddersfield hospice work for one of the best healthcare organisations in the country, according to a new survey.
Kirkwood Hospice has been named as one of the top 100 places to work in the UK in a survey carried out by the Nursing Times journal.
The hospice beat some of the largest NHS organisations in the country to make it into the category.
Staff had to complete questionnaires as part of the contest.
They must now wait until October to see if the hospice has made it into the top 10.
Christine Spring- thorpe, director of clinical services at the Dalton hospice, said: "We are thrilled to have made it into the top 100.
"I am delighted Kirkwood Hospice has been recognised as one of the top employers of nurses in the country.
"Each year a few members of our nursing teams change jobs and the hospice has to recruit new staff.
"This award will prove to other nurses that the hospice is a great place to work."
The centre, for people with life-threatening illnesses, employs 30 nurses, with 11 more on a reserve team.
Christine added: "We do have very high standards.
"We are so pleased to have been recognised against such large NHS organisations."
