PEOPLE who use mental health services in Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield have praised the care they get from staff.

Some 387 patients of the South West Yorkshire Mental Health NHS Trust took part in the national Mental Health Patient Survey, published by the Healthcare Commission.

Nationally, about 26,500 users of specialist mental health services took part in the survey.

The results for the trust show that:

* Some 79% of respondents said their overall care was excellent, very good or good

* 90% had trust and confidence in the psychiatrist and 95% trusted their community psychiatric nurse

* 94% of respondents who had a phone number to contact in a crisis were able to get through in an hour

* 88% of respondents had seen a psychiatrist in the last 12 months and 79% said that their psychiatrist had treated them with dignity and respect.
