A PRINTER, his friends and staff are to paddle their way around Loch Ness to raise cash for charity.
Liam Smith, owner of Aura Print, Fenay Bridge, is to take on the Scottish loch in June to raise cash for the Forget Me Not Trust.
Mr Smith, 32, and his employees and friends – 20 so far – will canoe the 55-mile perimeter of the lake starting at the north-east corner.
The voyage is expected to take up to three days with the canoeists cooking and camping on the shores of the loch.
The volunteers will sail in two-man Canadian canoes.
Last year Liam, whose company sponsors Huddersfield Giants Danny Kirmond and Michael Lawrence, raised cash for Forget Me Not Trust in a 140-mile coast-to-coast cycle trip from Workington, Cumbria, to Sunderland.
Dad-of-two Liam said: “It started off with five of us wanting to raise £3,000.
“Now there are so many of us we hope we’ll raise a lot more.
“I’ve never rowed before in my life but I do something every year to raise money for Forget Me Not Trust. I do a lot of running and I go to the gym and do some rowing on the machines.
“We’re looking forward to it. I’m a bit worried about Nessie if there’s such a thing.”
The West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust hopes to build a children’s respite centre and hospice in Brackenhall.
