ARTISTIC pupils in Rawthorpe have had their talents rewarded.

Children from Rawthorpe Infant and Nursery School and Rawthorpe Junior School won vouchers in a competition sponsored by Kirklees Council's revenues and benefits service.

Children were asked to design a poster with the theme "What I want to be when I grow up".

The children were presented with certificates by Jane Brady, the council's head of revenues and benefits and Rawthorpe Junior School head teacher Ian Williamson.

The winners (pictured) were Eden McMath, Charlotte Jervis, Sammy and Charlotte Weevill and Joe Hardcastle, from the Infant and Nursery School, and Kudzai Mubika, Maisie Anderson, Jasmine Powell and Abigail Salmon, of the Junior School.

The winning posters will be used to promote the revenue and benefits service's latest Lighten Your Load open day.

These promote community services for local people, including fire safety, healthy eating, returning to work, benefits, debt advice, housing information, community events and adult education.

Clr Paul Battye, who is responsible for administration and business on Kirklees Council's cabinet, said: "We had loads of entries and the team had a real task deciding who was the winner. The kids had drawn a range of jobs from pop star to chef."
