STUDENTS received awards when King James's School, Almondbury, held its annual prizegiving at Huddersfield Town Hall.

The main speaker was Martin Rostron, principal of Greenhead College.

Mr Lamb said the school had many great traditions and a long history of success.

It is waiting for the outcome of a bid for specialist science status.

Mr Lamb said: "Irrespective of the outcome of the bid, King James's is a school that is going places.

"It is no surprise after the successes of last year that it is more and more popular."
