FIRE investigators are trying to find out what started a huge blaze in a Meltham mill.

Firefighters spent almost three hours fighting the blaze at the former Brook Dyeing Mill in Holmfirth Road.

The fire started in a brick-built shed next to the main building around 11.30pm on Sunday.

Crews from Meltham, Marsden, Slaithwaite, Holmfirth, Huddersfield and the aerial appliance from Huddersfield attended the blaze and used four large jets to deal with the blaze.

The building was badly damaged although crews managed to prevent it spreading to the main part of the building.

Two large shipping containers were badly damaged by fire in Brighouse.

Crews from Cleckheaton and Elland dealt with the blaze which started in one container at Atlas Mill in the town centre and spread to another.

Crews were called to the scene shortly before midnight on Sunday.

The fire had started in a container storing electrical goods and spread to another containing rags and clothing.
