THE country’s favourite professor is to be honoured by the University of Huddersfield.

Prof Brian Cox OBE will be presented with the honorary award by Sir Patrick Stewart on Thursday July 26.

The particle physicist shot to fame after presenting a series of BBC science shows.

Audiences praised him for ‘making science fun’.

He also was the keyboard player for the 90s -band D:Ream, who had a number of UK hits including ‘Things Can Only Get Better’.

John Ramsdin, of Huddersfield University said: “We wanted to thank Brian for the amount he has done for promoting physics.

“He has brought it to the national arena.

“At the university, we are a force in physics and research.”
