MORE acts have been added to the bill for the Party in the Park finale event at Huddersfield’s Greenhead Park.

Singer-songwriter Ed Drewett has been added to the line-up for Sunday, June 10, headed by chart star Tinchy Stryder.

Most famous for his guest vocal on Professor Green’s ‘I need you tonight’, 22-year old singer-songwriter Drewett will kick off the main acts on the stage at Party in the Park.

To date, Drewett has co-written hits for other artists such as boy band The Wanted and is now keen to make a name for himself as a performer in his own right.

His first single is due for release in September.

Party in the Park is the biggest free pop concert for miles around, headlined by Tinchy Stryder, star of The Voice Vince Kidd and Marlon Roudette.

And organiser Kirklees Council has also announced that four local acts will be taking to the stage.

They are Extra Curricular, Apache Tears, Shedmen and French Soul Party.

Concerts in the Park is made up of three days of live open-air concerts this coming weekend, running from Friday to Sunday.

The event, put on by Kirklees Council, is non-ticketed and free entry.

Before Sunday’s Party in the Park, the stage will host a live concert show called Thank you for the Music, on Friday from 7.30pm, featuring the hits of ABBA and the Bee Gees.

There will be a classical jubilee prom on the Saturday night with the Orchestra of Opera North, starting at 7.30pm.

The prom will be compered by Classic FM DJ Mark Forest and feature solo singers yet to be announced.

Clr Mehboob Khan, Leader of Kirklees Council, said: “We’re really pleased to be giving local performers the opportunity to play on the big stage at Party in the Park. There is a wealth of creative talent in Kirklees and this will be a celebration of some of the fantastic musicians who call Huddersfield their home.

“The whole concert programme is looking great and I know from talking to people across the district that there is a real excitement about the events.

“It’s not often people get something of such quality for free and the atmosphere will be great for families and groups of friends alike.”
