HUDDERSFIELD community projects are celebrating a cash boost.

And it comes courtesy of a Kirklees-wide funding scheme.

A total of 14 initiatives in Kirklees have been awarded funding in the Kirklees Culture and Leisure Arts in the Neighbourhood scheme.

The scheme supports community arts and cultural based projects with grants of up to £2,000.

Recipients include Shabang Theatre Adventures, based at The Watershed in Slaithwaite.

The project was awarded £1,850 to help run arts-based workshops and performances for children with learning disabilities.

Hoot, a charity based in Huddersfield, provides those with mental heath needs the chance to get involved in practical music making and dance.

The £1,000 awarded from the scheme will help fund its music workshops.

Other local community groups to receive funding include Crosland Moor Women's Networks received £1,000 for a series of millinery workshops.

The Holme Valley Business Association was awarded £1,000 for this year's Holmfirth Festival of Folk.

Huddersfield Chinese Community Centre was granted £900 to help with its public Chinese New year celebrations.
