LAW enforcers took to the streets of Huddersfield in a bid to find out about people’s crime concerns.

Gaynor Zeki, the Crown Prosecution Service’s community prosecutor, went on patrol with Huddersfield South Neighbourhood Policing Team as part of Not in My Neighbourhood Week.

The week, sponsored by the Home Office, aims to inform people of action taking place in their area to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour.

Ms Zeki said she wanted to talk to people about the issues affecting communities in Huddersfield.

She said: “My role as community prosecutor is to make sure that the voices of local people are heard when we are making charging decisions, when we’re prosecuting cases in court, and when criminals are sentenced.”

Kirklees Police Inspector Dave Barnett added: “It is important that members of the public see first hand how the police and CPS work hand in hand to ensure their communities are safe and that they are assured of the best possible standards from the criminal justice system.”
