HUDDERSFIELD'S answer to The Calendar Girls have got pulses racing at a Skelmanthorpe pub.

A gutsy group of middle-aged women at the Windmill pub, Busker Lane, have bravely adopted scantily-clad poses to raise cash for charity.

The glamorous 13 took up the challenge after their menfolk stripped off for a calendar last year.

They sold 185 copies and raised more than £1,300 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Now the women - aged between 43 and 65 - are determined to smash last year's amount.

They have launched their own cocktail-themed calendar, portraying each month with the name of a popular drink.

Landlady Carol Hirst was among those who took part in the shoot, posing as Foxy Lady for the month of September.

Pink Gin, Black Russian and Manhattan are also featured.

Carol, 52, said: "When the men thought about doing it, we said you do it first and then we'll do it.

"They didn't think we would hold our promise, but we had to do it.

"Everyone was quite nervous but we just closed the pub for a few hours and everybody just got on with it. We think it looks wonderful.

"There is nothing vulgar in it. It's all very tasteful."

A total of 200 calendars have been printed this year and they cost £5 each.

All proceeds will be donated to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance again.

Copies are available from the pub by calling 01484 863900.
