A PUB is in line for the ultimate accolade from enthusiasts.

The West Riding Licensed Refreshment Rooms, next to Dewsbury railway station, are in with a chance of being named national pub of the year by the Campaign for Real Ale.

Owner Michael Field said: "We're thrilled to be nominated and are keeping our fingers crossed."

A shortlist of four was drawn up from 16 regional winners revealed last year. One of them will be crowned national pub of the year on February 16, during Community Pubs Week.

Camra pubs director Bob Stukins said: "All four are shining examples of pubs run by people that are committed to their local community."

The West Riding is up against Ayrshire's Failford Inn, the Dove Street Inn, Ipswich, and the Tom Cobley Tavern, Spreyton, Devon.
