PLANS for faster broadband access in the Denby Dale area are to be discussed at a public meeting.

The scheme is being planned by councillors and Rutland Telecom, but needs the backing of local people to get off the ground.

The meeting on Wednesday, July 21, includes a presentation on the benefits of faster broadband, how the scheme could be implemented and how it could be funded.

Denby Dale councillor Jim Dodds said: “A feasibility study has been carried out and we are convinced faster broadband speeds are achievable in the Denby Dale ward.

“The study was funded last year by Denby Dale Area Committee and Denby Dale Parish Council, and it is now important to take this forward with a motivated group of local residents and businesses.

“We are now at the next stage.”

The meeting will be at Denby First School in Denby Lane, Upper Denby, HD8 8UN, from 7.30 to 9pm with representatives from Rutland Telecom and Kirklees Council.
