POLICE will be taking the fight against crime on to West Yorkshire's trains and buses this weekend.

The high profile blitz will target people who commit offences on public transport or in bus and train stations.

Police know the routes which are worst affected across the county and will be using 80 special constables along with officers from British Transport Police.

They will be focusing mainly on public order offences, criminal damage and anti-social behaviour.

Chief Insp Keith Boughen, of West Yorkshire Police, said: "This initiative forms part of a campaign to address problems of vandalism, nuisance and rowdy behaviour on and around public transport in the region.

"It is also an opportunity to reassure the public and deliver a strong message to problem passengers that unlawful behaviour will not be tolerated."
