A HUNDRED balloons are seen being let into the air to celebrate a school's award.

Reinwood Infant School at Oakes is only the second in Kirklees to get an Investor in Pupils certificate.

Judges were impressed with the way pupils are encouraged to get involved in the running of the school.

Youngsters sit on a school council and even decided on the colour scheme for toilets.

The award was made by the Learning and Skills Council for West Yorkshire.

Julie Edge, the school's award co-ordinator, said: "This is a tremendous achievement and the result of a lot of hard work by pupils, staff, governors and parents.

"The award backs up the school's ethos in valuing our pupils and getting them to take responsibility for learning."
