A “GRADUATION” ceremony was held for pupils of Dalton and Rowley Lane Schools who have been studying at Huddersfield Town and Huddersfield Giants Success Centres.
The pupils were joined by fellow students from Batley Bulldogs, Dewsbury Rams and Thongsbridge Tennis Club Success Centres in an event which drew participants from all over Kirklees and which was held at Huddersfield University.
The pupils taking part in the ceremony were celebrating their graduation from the ‘Children’s University’.
An international organisation, sponsored and supported nationally by the Department for Education, the Children’s University recognises and rewards the ‘out-of-school-hours’ achievements of children aged seven to 14 years but also aims to inspire them to have aspirations to go to university in later life. Pupils were presented with a Children’s University Bronze Award to recognise that they had each committed 30 hours of their own time to out-of-school-hours learning.
Children from Chickenley Community J I and N, Batley Girls High and Newsome Junior School also attended.
