PUPILS at a Huddersfield school went to class in their holidays - to help other youngsters.

The children at Spring Grove Junior, Infant and Nursery School, Springwood, were there to try out new education booklets to help young people understand and deal with their anger.

Be Cool, Stay Cool follows the fictional story of a rugby player called Buster, who learns how to stay in control of his feelings.

The Spring Grove pupils were given colourful workbooks for them to see how to help in the classroom.

The project has been organised by Powerful Partners, in conjunction with Children's Fund Kirklees, Community Education and Regeneration and the One 17 firm.

One of those helping at the launch was former Huddersfield Giants star forward Basil Richards.

Ernie Shackleton, Powerful Partners co-ordinator, said: "We hope this workbook will be a valuable addition to the preventive work we have done over recent years.

"It is our first emotional health publication and we anticipate others will follow.

"We hope to publish the material following a series of trials."

Powerful Partners, managed by Kirklees Council's Claremont Behaviour Support Service, encourages teamwork in schools and helps raise children's self- esteem.

It was established in 1998 and involved Andy Morrison, the then captain of Huddersfield Town.
