Pupils at Shepley First School went continental with a day of French cuisine.

The day, which also included strings of onions and French fashion, was to promote new French classes introduced last year.

The event was also part of a plan introduced by the school council to raise thousands pounds to help build a school in Ghana.

So far the school has managed to raise more than £300.

Acting headteacher Trisha Jackson said: "The day went extremely well.

"It proved to be extremely popular and the children loved the food that was available."

The school is set to host another fundraising event, a musical production of the Battle of Trafalgar, in April.
