AN unusual exhibition opens in Huddersfield next month.

The display - focusing on school uniforms - will be at the Tolson Museum in Ravens- knowle Park, Moldgreen, from October 2.

And pupils from Colne Valley High School in Linthwaite, Moor End Technology College at Crosland Moor and Howden Clough Girls' High School at Batley have played a big part in developing the Loose Ties exhibition.

They have been photo- graphed wearing formal and not-so-formal uniform and have talked about how they feel wearing them; where they buy items of uniform and how they try to bend the rules and retain some individuality.

At Howden Clough choices of colour and style are available and Muslim girls at the school are offered the choice of a blue, white or black headscarf.

The heart of the exhibition features two complete uniforms, chosen by Colne Valley High and Moor End students.

Many other Kirklees schools have given badges, ties and other items of uniform to the collection.

Many of these will be in the exhibition, alongside signed shirts, quotes and photos from the young people.
