A HUDDERSFIELD puppet company will make its second appearance on BBC hit show Dragons’ Den.

Steve Wright and his company Puppet Broadcasting Company (PBC) will feature on a Where Are They Now? follow-up to the prime-time enterprise programme tomorrow on BBC2 at 8pm.

Dragons failed to see the potential of Steve’s new venture Get Your Head Round It (GYHRI) – a website which uses streetwise puppets to educate young people on thorny issues such as drugs, sexuality and citizenship.

Undeterred Steve sold his house and, with financial backing from his accountant and business partner George Brown, launched the online resource with TV appearances, workshops and a range of hard-hitting DVDs aimed at 11-16-year-olds.

Dragons’ Den producers were so impressed with Mr Wright’s commitment they sent a film crew to track his progress at his Kirkburton workshop last month.

GYHRI has been co-designed and marketed by Huddersfield-based Blacksmith Design.

Steve, from Shelley, said: “The exposure we have had from Dragons’ Den has been fantastic. Follow-ups usually feature ventures that get backing, so we obviously made an impression.

“GYHRI is the natural evolution of our work. We have been presenting our cast of puppets to tens of thousands of young people live for over 10 years with overwhelming positive responses. By harnessing new technologies we can reach out and deliver our resources to a much bigger audience.”

Steve Wright has produced and performed teen educational DVDs, workshops and done live performances for 10 years.

His CV includes work on Rent Boy – a Los Angeles-produced action movie.
