PEOPLE have been asked to pay a pound and help a hospice.

The Brackenhall-based Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice is staging Purple Pound Day, to raise cash for the organisation.

They are urging employees to take £1 into their workplace on Monday, December 3.

It is then up to firms as to what the workers could get for their £1 – but it could be the chance to dress down in their casual clothes or dress up in fancy costumes.

The charity’s corporate fundraiser Romaine Maret, said: “The Purple Pound Day will offer a simple yet effective way of helping raise funds this December.

“The help provided by our supporters throughout this time is vital and we hope that everyone will get behind the Purple Pound Day and make it a great success.”

The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice must raise more than £2.5m per year to exist.
