HUDDERSFIELD parents have been asked to help celebrate a landmark for nursery products firm Mamas and Papas.

The company, based at Colne Bridge will produce its 500,00th Pliko pushchair next month.

Now, Mamas and Papas is planning an exhibition charting the history of the Pliko range, which was launched in 1988.

The firm wants to track down earlier versions of the Pliko and draw together memories of mother- hood.

Spokeswoman Gill Kingston-Warren said: "We want people to send in their photos and anecdotes for the exhibition.

"We also want to locate some early examples of our products, which the company has not been able to store.

"It would be amazing if we could find the very first Pliko pushchair."

She added: "People might have some of the old pushchairs in the back of the garage or stored in the loft.

"Perhaps their pushchair has been handed down through the family and is still providing good service.

"A lot of children who were pushed around in the first Plikos will be school-leavers now."

The exhibition will also show some of the changing styles in maternity wear.

Mamas and Papas plans to open the exhibition in its showroom on Colne Bridge Road on February 14.

The 500,000th pushchair will be a one-off, featuring green polka-dots. The company hopes to auction it live on GMTV, with the proceeds from text bids going to the NSPCC charity.

Mamas and Papas launched its first Pliko pushchair, The Plikomatic VIB, in 1990. Subsequent versions have included the Pliko Sprint and the Pliko Elegante.

The pushchairs have featured on TV soaps such as Coronation Street, EastEnders and Hollyoaks.

Mamas and Papas products have also been supplied for BBC dramas and feature films.
