TOPSY-TURVY election officials have admitted they got their boundaries mixed up in a Huddersfield road.
Almost 50 homes in Trinity Street were put in the Greenhead ward voting area.
But all the time they should really have been in Newsome.
A councillor is now demanding an explanation as to why the mistake happened.
People living in the homes have voted in the wrong ward at two local elections.
Mehboob Khan, a Labour councillor for Greenhead, said: "It's fortunate that no small majorities were involved.
"If they had the results could have been open to a legal challenge."
Clr Khan is now calling for election staff to look at other boundaries to make sure they are correct.
He added: "I would like to know how the mistake was made.
"There should be careful checks to make sure there are no other residents in the wrong ward."
Kirklees Council said it would be putting the mistake right.
A spokeswoman said: "The last boundary change moved several thousand voters into different wards. The number affected is very small and the change will be reflected in the new electoral register published in December."
