A DOZEN people have earned certificates in community leadership.
They, along with five others, took part in an introduction to community leadership course called Inspire!
The course - which consisted of two weekends and one day each week for 10 months - was designed for people from the African-Caribbean and Pakistani communities.
They had the chance to go on and get a certificate of accreditation from the Institute of Leadership Management - and 12 of the 17 who went on the course did that.
The presentation evening was held at the Galpharm Stadium and speakers included Tess Butler from Huddersfield Pride, course trainer Erroll Williams from Scholar International in London, Milton Brown from Sports Participation And Cultural Equality in Huddersfield and Nicola Stenberg from the Icarus Collective, which evaluated the course as it unfolded.
The event was chaired by Inspire! participant Shazad Hussain and attended by Kirklees Mayor Clr Mary Harkin.
The people who went on the course will now use their skills in groups within their own communities.
