A QUARRYING company is warning youngsters who get into sites of the dangers there.

The warning from Hanson Building Products, which has a brickworks at Elland, comes after a series of incidents at its sites.

Youngsters have been seen abseiling down sheer quarry walls, using quarries as rough rally tracks, swimming in flooded quarries and taking short cuts across company property, regardless of forklift trucks and lorries.

Company safety chief David Gilbert said: "We try very hard to maintain safety and privacy on our sites, but these are very large areas to police and parents should remind their children that they are particularly dangerous for inexperienced visitors who are in fact trespassing on private property."

Mr Gilbert said Hanson was also contacting local schools to warn pupils of the dangers.
