ORGANISERS of this year's Huddersfield Race For Life have been forced to cancel the event due to be held on Sunday.

Around 2,600 women were expected to descend on Leeds Road Playing Fields on Sunday but due to heavy rain the event will now be rescheduled.

Race for Life spokesman Helen Webster told the Examiner: "We did a a site visit yesterday and again this morning and it is just too wet and unfit for the event to go ahead.

"As yet we do not have a new date but urge those who were due to take part to check our website in the coming days."

The women-only events raise millions of pounds every year for life-saving research into 200 types of cancer – helping men, women and children across Yorkshire survive.
