Nearly 2,000 mums, daughters, grannies, aunties, sisters and friends will take part in the Huddersfield Race For Life on Sunday.
And it is expected those taking part in the 5km race at Leeds Road Playing Fields will raise a staggering £188,000 for Cancer Research UK.
As in previous years there will be two races – the first at 10.30am and again at 2.30pm.
Both runs are women only and non-competitive and will see entrants take on a double lap of the flat course around the playing fields.
Philippa Sharpe, Event Manager for Race for Life for Huddersfield, said: “We are very grateful to the women who have already entered Race for Life in Huddersfield.
“By raising money through Race for Life, people in the Huddersfield are helping Cancer Research UK’s doctors, nurses and scientists make advances in research which will help more men, women and children survive.
“Women of all shapes, sizes, ages and levels of fitness take part in Race for Life. They come from different backgrounds and walks of life but they are united by their absolute determination to take on the disease and beat it.”
Philippa added: “Race for Life is not competitive and it’s not about being fit or fast. It’s about thousands of women coming together to show cancer who’s boss.”
The charity is also encouraging event-goers to do a ‘wardrobe work-out’ before their event and donate quality clothes, books and accessories they no longer use and take them to the ‘donation station’ at the event. To enter Race for Life, visit www.raceforlife.org or call 0845 600 6050.
