DARREN Baker’s sketch of a former racing driver has raised £5,000 for charity.

The Meltham man’s graphite sketch of the ex-Formula 1 ace Mark Blundell was auctioned at an exhibition at the Bentley Motors showroom in Birmingham.

Darren attended last week’s event, which was in aid of Barnardo’s.

He said: “It was fantastic and I was happy with the price.”

The 18in by 14in sketch took four days to complete. Darren is now working on 12 new pieces for a display at the North Light Gallery at Armitage Bridge between November 18 and 21.
