A MASKED gang escaped with cash from the Hartshead Moor service station on the M62.
Three masked men armed with crowbars and circular stone-cutting tools attacked a cash machine in the foyer of the eastbound side of the services at around 4am and threatened staff who challenged them.
They left in a silver 3-series BMW with tinted windscreens.
A vehicle matching the description was later found abandoned at Whitehall Road in the Chain Bar area.
No-one was injured during the robbery, which police are investigating.
