GREENHEAD Park’s new lake has got a whole lot bigger.

The heavy rain of recent days has swelled the lake to overflowing.

The lake, which boasts ducks, was constructed last year as part of a £4m revamp of the Victorian park.

Now the water is lapping over a footpath that runs around the lake, but is expected to disappear over the course of the weekend, with no heavy rain forecast.

A council spokesman said:

“The lake has overflowed slightly because of the huge amount of rain over the past few days. The excess is already draining and we are confident that the situation will improve very soon”.
