THIEVES failed in their bid to steal a cash machine during a ram raid.
The intruders reversed a blue Ford Transit van through the front of the Co-op on Westgate in Honley just before 2.40am today.
They tied a cable around the cash dispenser and attached it to the van.
They then drove the van forward, but the cash machine was well fixed in and the thieves failed to drag it out.
They fled in a large four-wheeled drive vehicle, possibly a Land Rover or a Range Rover.
The gang was made up of three white men.
The Transit van - registration number E558 LBT - had been used in a burglary in Keighley in December.
Sgt Tim O'Sullivan, of Huddersfield police, said: "It may be they dumped this vehicle in the surrounding area and escaped in another getaway vehicle."
