A TEENAGER will be off out to paint the town red after scooping an award for his decorating skills.

Chris Cassidy, from Marsh, had a brush with success after coming runner-up in the national finals of the Dulux paint Apprentice of the Year awards. Talented Chris, who works for Ramsay Clay decorators in Huddersfield, has also seen success this year when he was named Apprentice of the Year at Leeds College of Building where he is studying for an NVQ in decorating. The 18-year-old followed in the footsteps of fellow Ramsay Clay employee Greg Byram from Bradley who won the award last year.

Nathan Clay, director of the painting and decorating business on Bath Street, said: “We are a traditional family firm that has been going for 65 years and Chris’s award shows we have kept the quality up.”
