THE former Examiner office building in Huddersfield town centre comes under the hammer at a property auction next month.
The four-storey building at the corner of Ramsden Street and Victoria Lane is one of the star lots in the two-day auction to be held by Eddisons
A guide price of between £2.1m and £2.3m has been put on the fully-tenanted freehold property, which is occupied by tenants including Skipton Building Society and The Co-operative Bank while the upper floors are home to the Rock Café.
Tony Webber, of Eddisons, said annual rents from the Victorian property totalled £161,660 – giving a potential return of more than 7% on the guide price.
He said the building represented “a significant commercial investment opportunity”.
The building is one of 93 lots set to be auctioned at the two-day sale, which takes place at 2.30pm on September 8 in Prestwich, Manchester, and at noon on September 10 at Leeds United Football Club, Elland Road, Leeds.
The premises at Ramsden Street were occupied by the Examiner for many years until the company moved to purpose-built offices at Queen Street South in 1991.
