Three people ran off after a smash in the centre of Cleckheaton.

A taxi and an estate car crashed on Westgate near to the Nosh takeaway just before 6pm this evening.

The crash also knocked down a telegraph pole.

Three people were seen to flee from the white Vauxhall Insignia estate.

The man driving the Toyota Avensis private hire vehicle escaped injury.

Insp Dorian James from West Yorkshire Police said: “The Insignia came to rest on its roof. The fire service attended and the road was closed.”

Inquiries are ongoing to trace the three.

Witnesses should contact police via the main switchboard number 101 and quote log number 1362 of September 20.
