A COMMUNITY of monks auctioned more items on Saturday to raise about £50,000 for urgent monastery repairs.
A whole series of lots went under the hammer at the Community of the Resurrection in Mirfield.
Jewels and a letter from George Prince Regent sold for £30,000.
Also among the unusual treasures were a dinner suit worn by Star Trek actor Sir Patrick Stewart in a production of Hamlet and an autographed photo of Princess Mary.
The items auctioned came from the community’s own collection and from donations.
The repair fund needs to raise £2.3 million.
Last year a similar auction, also conducted by well-known auctioneer George Gribben, brother of the community’s Father John Gribben, raised £47,000.
Other items in the catalogue included a delicately-carved 18th century crucifix and a medieval sword.
Father Gribben said: “We are very grateful to those who have donated items.”
