The prom season is now under way ... and here is one of the first.

Rastrick High year 11 pupils went for a Bugsy Malone-themed party when they celebrated finishing school with their night to remember at Bertie’s Banqueting Rooms in Elland.

Around 200 year 11 pupils from Rastrick High School on Field Top Road danced the night away.

The night featured a three-course meal, awards ceremony and DJ.

The awards included titles such as best comedy double act and prom king and queen.

A spokesperson for the school said: “Students enjoyed dinner followed by an awards ceremony where Harry Fenney and Saffron Mason were crowned Prom King and Queen; an extra special surprise for Saffron whose birthday it was that day.

“Everyone had a fantastic evening and it was a fitting end to all the hard work leading up to the exams.”

Seventy sixth form leavers also got to celebrate the same week, with a classy prom of their own which included a buffet and more awards.
