A HEADTEACHER says she is proud of her school’s achievements after their latest Ofsted report.

Rastrick High School and sixth-form centre faced two days of scrutiny.

It was described as a hub of the community and headteacher Helen Lennie said staff and pupils should be proud of their hard work which saw them rated ‘good’ – the second of four categories the school could be rated.

However, the school’s sixth-form centre was put in the ‘satisfactory’ category and its leadership in the past described as ‘unstable’. But new leadership is already in place and staff say they will work to improve consistency.

Overall, the Field Top Road school was praised for its achievements, teaching and extra curricular work in highlighting cultural awareness with activities ranging from clog dancing to Caribbean cuisine.

Mrs Lennie said: “I am really proud to have received such a positive report which reflects the very hard work of Team Rastrick since our last inspection in 2006.

“We knew that an inspection under the new framework would be more challenging and our inspectors did confirm that ‘the bar has been raised’.

“It certainly has, which is why we feel so pleased to have achieved positive judgements across all aspects of the school.”

Over the two days inspectors visited assemblies and lessons and met staff, governors and students.
