THE RAT and Ratchet is the greatest cider pub in Yorkshire ... well, almost.
The Chapel Hill tavern, which has won countless real ale awards, was judged Cider Runner-up in this year’s Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) Yorkshire region awards, which took place earlier this month.
Winner was The Hop and Vine in Hull.
Among those celebrating the Rat and Ratchet’s victory was landlord Sam Birkhead and Huddersfield CAMRA chairman Mike Robinson.
Mr Robinson said: “The award covers quite a large area and it’s quite a thing to win.
“Sam’s cider operation is pretty comprehensive and he’s converted people who wouldn’t normally drink it to cider fans.”
