A GIRL who was sitting near a river bank was pushed to the ground and robbed of her mobile phone in Ravensthorpe.

The incident happened around 5.15pm on Sunday when the 15-year-old was sitting on a pipe near the bridge at Scouthill, Ravensthorpe.

She was on the phone when she was approached by a man who pushed her backwards on to the grass causing her to drop the phone.

The suspect took the phone, running away in the direction of Heckmondwike.

The suspect was an Asian man in his 20s who was chubby and wore glasses. He was wearing a plain black jacket and grey Adidas tracksuit bottoms.
