A MAN has appeared in court accused of burgling a house just doors away from his home.

Marcus Warner, of Brown Royd Avenue, Rawthorpe, was before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.

He is alleged to have entered a house on the same street as a trespasser on January 12.

From there the 26-year-old allegedly stole an iPhone.

Marina Hunter-Grey, prosecuting, said that the case involved a confrontation with a 16-year-old boy.

She said that the boy, who cannot be named, was sleeping on a settee when he allegedly woke to find Warner climbing through the window.

Warner denies the charge and faces trial at Leeds Crown Court.

He will next appear in the Huddersfield court for a committal hearing on Tuesday, March 12.

Warner was granted conditional bail.

These include residence at an address in Alder Street, Fartown, with an electronically-monitored curfew.

He was also banned from contacting prosecution witnesses and from entering Brown Royd Avenue.
