A MAN has appeared in court after wrecking his ex’s TV and threatening to shoot her.
Ryan France, of Brown Royd Avenue in Rawthorpe, was before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.
He admitted charges of criminal damage and sending a communication conveying a threatening message.
Magistrates told France that he faced jail after hearing about the incidents, which happened after he was dumped by his partner of 18-months.
The bench was told that France had enjoyed a relationship with Claudia King and they had a 10-month-old son together.
But this was volatile and France had a conviction for damage involving Miss King.
In June she ended the relationship as a result of his behaviour.
However Miss King still allowed France access to her Kirkburton home so that he could see their son.
On August 9 he was drunk and Miss King asked him to leave. The 22-year-old became aggressive and kicked at her LCD television, smashing the screen and causing £400 worth of damage.
On August 17, Miss King was out with friends when she received a phone call from France.
Vanessa Schofield, prosecuting, said: “She hung up but he then continued ringing her and she answered the phone.
“He was abusive towards her, making threats to shoot her and smash her face in.”
Miss King called police and received another threatening call from her ex.
Magistrates were told that she was so scared that she now wanted a restraining order banning France from contacting her.
France had denied the allegations but changed his plea to guilty on the day of his trial.
Marnat Ali, mitigating, said that substance misuse had played a big part in the incidents. He said: “On the whole this young man is polite, caring and loving.
“But it’s his substance misuse that turns his personality.”
Magistrates adjourned the case until January 3 to enable a presentence report to be carried out.
France was bailed on condition that he does not contact Miss King or go within 100 metres of The Crescent in Kirkburton.
