A CHURCH aims to bring the "real" message to people in Huddersfield town centre next week.

The New Testament Church of God on Great Northern Street is hosting the Keeping It Real event on the market hall piazza on Saturday, May 14.

The Gospel event promises something for everyone, with music, rapping and miming during the four-hour event, which starts at 11am.

"We are living in a real world and real things are happening. We want people to come along and share fellowship with us," said the church's the Rev Orlando Brown.

A covered area, seating, food and refreshments will be provided as part of the day, which will be led by the church pastor Paul Thomas and the Nottingham-based Tent Ministry.

The church is hosting several other events over the next couple of months, including a senior citizens' day starting at 11am on Sunday May 15.

A youth weekend on Sunday, June 12, will include a service at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary between 9.30 and 10am and a men's day at 11am on Sunday, June 19.
