TWO young sisters are putting their best feet forward to help raise funds for a two-year-old boy’s cancer treatment.

Schoolgirls Rebecca and Jessica Fozard felt inspired to raise money for young Oliver Field who suffers from neuroblastoma – a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Oliver’s parents, Laura and Paul, of Dalton, were told their son was beating the disease in the summer but further tests last month showed the tumour is back.

They are raising money in case Oliver eventually needs treatment overseas which could be as high as £250,000. He is currently undergoing tests at Leeds General Infirmary and starts chemotherapy on Monday.

The Huddersfield community is rallying round to help raise funds.

Vicky Fozard is just one of the many fundraisers who has helped the Field’s campaign and her daughters are now following in her footsteps.

Vicky, 34, said: “I work at a baby shop in Leeds Road and we heard about Oliver’s plight and held a pamper evening which raised £300.

“My girls wanted to do something too and came up with a sponsored walk and me and my husband Stephen will walk with them.

“I have spoken to Laura a few times and it’s just anything we can do to help.

“Even if people go on the website and donate a £1 it all adds up.”

Jessica, 12, who attends Earlsheaton High School in Dewsbury, said: “I am excited about the walk.

“We just want to raise as much as possible to help Oliver.

“We have a few school friends who are going to come with us.”

The Fozards have set up a Just Giving website and hope to raise £300.

They are setting off on February 23 from the High Park pub in Bradley and walking an eight-mile route to The Commercial Pub at Earlsheaton.

And they are inviting any supporters to join them on the walk or to just come down to the venues to celebrate their achievements where refreshments will kindly be provided.

The Oliver Field appeal is supported by national charity Families Against Neuroblastoma – or FANs for short.

Neuroblastoma is a very aggressive childhood cancer which begins in the adrenal gland and runs through to the abdomen, chest and the skull following the line of the spinal cord.

The FANs charity is featuring Oliver’s story on its website which can be viewed at www.familiesagainstneuroblastoma.org/appeals.php
