REBECCA Roberts is a girl in a pickle.

Quite literally, in fact.

The 25-year-old Huddersfield woman has followed her dream and run away to join the circus.

But her idea of being a singer with a circus touring the world is a little off the mark.

For Rebecca is now a leading performer with the zany Circus of Horrors – and her star turn is to be crammed into a pickle jar.

It’s an age old adage that everyone wants to run away and join the circus but for Rebecca her dream, or rather nightmare, is now a reality.

Rebecca, who was brought up in Birchencliffe, applied to join the infamous Circus of Horrors after seeing a job advertised for a singer.

She did not realise it also entailed becoming a “Pickled Person” and cramming herself into a bottle 18 inches in diameter and two feet tall.

“I was delighted but scared at the same time,” said Rebecca, who prefers to be known as Becks.

“I am normally a singer in a band so this certainly is a career change.”

The circus is touring the Middle East and Iran, but is due in Huddersfield next week.

The new show The Day of the Dead is set in Mexico during the early 1900s, and the cast of chaosmongers transport the body of their doyen Dr Haze to a remote area.

Unbeknown to them they have settled in a former burial ground of Aztec Warriors. There, they join the local inhabitants Day of the Dead rituals to try and revive their esteemed leader. All of course with disastrous consequences.

The show features some of the world’s greatest, grotesque, most daring and bizarre circus acts.

The Circus of Horrors have been touring the world for 15 years.

It can be seen in Huddersfield on Friday, March 26, at 8pm.

Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult and the show is not recommended for under 12s.

The Circus of Horrors is not suitable for children and they must only be allowed in, if accompanied by an adult who understands what is in the show. The show contains some nudity and bad language, but not of a sexual nature.
