Elland bridge yesterday

In case you missed it, here’s a video from Elland bridge yesterday afternoon. We’ll bring you updates as we get them.

Weather update from the Met Office

Heavy and persistent rain is expected to gradually clear southeast through Wednesday.

This will add to the already large rainfall totals that have built up, particularly over south facing hills, on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Rain will also be accompanied by strong to gale force southerly winds.

Please be aware of the potential for moderate levels of disruption in places from both surface water and river flooding.

Elland bridge police update

Police have released the following update about Elland bridge:

We are receiving reports that despite significant barriers put in place by CMBC that a small minority are still crossing the bridge at Elland. As has been reported in the wider media this bridge is at serious risk of collapse and is clearly impassible. Please do not attempt to cross the bridge as these irresponsible actions force us to divert officers from other flood relief activities that they are undertaking.
