FANCY shedding a few Christmas pounds? Or want to set yourself a new goal?

The British Red Cross is offering places to Huddersfield people in a series of running challenges.

The charity has guaranteed places available for the iconic 13-mile Great North Run in Newcastle on September 16, plus marathons in Brighton on April 15 and Manchester on April 29.

For those who want to go further afield, there are places available for the marathons in Paris on April 15 and Berlin on September 30.

Community Fundraiser at the British Red Cross Max Newton said: “Last year 70 wonderful Yorkshire men and women ran for the Red Cross and raised over £60,000.

“Each event is incredibly rewarding in its own unique way. I know lots of people out there will have made New Year resolutions to get fit.”

All participants must pay a registration fee and raise the minimum sponsorship for each event which varies from £300 for the GNR to £1,000 for Paris and Berlin.

All runners receive a sponsorship pack, Red Cross running vest. For more information or to secure your place visit www.redcros.org.uk/runs or contact Max Newton on 0114 242 7379 or mnewton@redcross.org.uk or text RUN to 07710 711253.
